PE Activation

Active Living:

As an adolescent girl, I find exercise to be a very important part of my life. Personally, I enjoy team sports. They keep me engaged and concentrated, with the combination of excersising with my friends keeps me more than entertained. I especially enjoy soccer and badminton. Both sports incorporate all of the main muscles in my body. Soccer targets the calf's and hamstrings, generally the legs. Badminton targets the upper arms and shoulders, while both sports pull on the abs. From kicking the ball, to spiking the birdie with a wrist motion, the abs are definitely being pulled on. I train by being aware of my physical abilities. I have adapted a good sense of understanding and awareness of my physical stature and to keep up my stamina.

Movement:

I have been building movement skills by working on my hand eye coordination. For example, I play ping pong as much as I can as to improve on my movement skills. I also snowboard as a hobby. I am right at the point, where I can successfully board down and hill at a high speed, but I feel like there is still room for improvement. Snow boarding really requires balance and concentration which I don’t exactly have, but I’m trying and improving.

Leadership:

Fair play and leadership in exercising means you have to follow a general sports code of conduct. For example, I love riding my bike which requires the knowledge of urban road rules. If there is a path, you always stay on the right side of the path. If you don’t stay on the right side of the path, turning corners can become very dangerous with other approaching bikers or pedestrians. My whole family are very active, and when I began biking at a young age in places like whistler, my older brother showed leadership by teaching me the rules of urban bike riding. Nowadays, I am trying riding my bike on the road with other cars. I had never known there was so many rules, just like driving rules. To demonstrate safety and fair play, I had to be taught these clearly set out rules before going onto the road.
